Rugby Union

Chemcare Group is a strong supporter of Rugby Union throughout Papua New Guinea. Through S.C.R.U.M (Supporters Club of Rugby Union in Morobe), Chemcare Group has contributed to the growth of School Boys and Under 16's Rugby Union since 1992 through financial contributions, provision of transport to and from games, player training, player workshops, and the donation of equipment. This relationship is ongoing with committee members and administration staff offering their time and services for the success of SCRUM and its Objectives. This support continues and as the organisation evolves, we are reminded of Kerry McDonough's efforts and contribution as an inital founder of SCRUM inc back in 1992.

Chemcare Defence Rugby Union Club

Defence Rugby Union Club was established in the early 1990's, when the Engineering Battalion moved over to Lae, and ATS (Air Transport Squadron) formerly based in Lae moved to Port Moresby. During the transition period members of the Lae area, ATS and engineers formed the Club to participate in the local Morobe Rugby Football Union competition. From those humble beginnings, the club has successfully taken part in notable grand finals and premierships. However, winning is not what’s most important to this team; the core of the Club is uniting individuals to be team players, demonstrating respect, integrity, discipline, loyalty and passion for the game and its players. These values made Chemcare Group a perfect fit to come on board as the Club’s main supporter and sponsor almost seven years ago. The Club became known as Chemcare Defence Rugby Union with Chemcare Group branches donating t.shirts, balls and first aid kits throughout the season.
